Deep listening - The body's true needs

Posted by Lala Naidu on

The Body’s Needs, Not the Wants of the Mind.

On one level the body is a machine with very specific nutritional needs –

What is your body truly needing in order to function optimally?

As the stillness expands within us, so does the connection to Self. In this space, the knowing-sensation of what the body needs become much clearer.

Cravings and desires of the mind might want to convince you that stimulants like caffeine and sweets are a good breakfast as in conventional baked goods, cereals and coffee, or it may just have become a habit? But if we stop for a moment –

Take a few breaths, feel into our gut, ask for what the body truly needs, and then listen…

Something else might emerge? Or, it could still be that the body want’s something sweet, but maybe now we choose, from this more connected place, to satisfy the taste for sweet in a more optimal way with:

  • Oatmeal, well-spiced w/ cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and a pinch sea salt and 1 Tbsp. almond butter, and 2 tsps. coconut oil or butter
  • 1/2 Papaya with seed yogurt & berries and a pinch cardamom and sea salt

As much as my awareness allows, I am guided by my gut/intuition – I slow down and tune in –

The body has its on intelligence, and has a very clear voice!

Practice and cultivate listening.

I encourage you to join me in taking a moment before grabbing for the mind’s wants…Many times a deeper need is there wanting attention. Nourishing the body-mind with this more subtle awareness is deeply satifying, helps build will-force and eliminate cravings.
