Raw carob or cacao treats are very simple to make and are so satisfying. The recipe is quite flexible and you can experiment with different nuts, dried fruits, herbs and spices to suit your mood and taste buds. I rarely make them the same.
RAW CAROB TREATS RECIPE
I N G R E D I E N T S :
- 1 cup Pecans or Walnuts
- 3/4 cup Raisins or Dates (Medjool works best)
- 2 tablespoons organic and cold-pressed Coconut Oil
- 2-3 tablespoons Carob Powder or Raw Cacao
- 1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
- pinch Sea Salt and Cayenne
- 1 teaspoon organic Vanilla Extract
In food processor with the S blade first finely ground Nuts, the add remaining ingredients and pulse to combine, the mass will be slightly sticky. Turn off machine, and with the help of a tablespoon form round balls, using your hands.
Note: The flavor combinations are as wide as your imagination. I have experimented with adding: ground Cardamom, Ground and frehly grated Ginger, Fennel Seeds, Peppermint and Orange Extract, ground Coffee. Add a little at a time, the spices and extracts can quickly take over, it’s nice when the flavors are subtle.
